Abstract

La demencia es la causa más importante de discapacidad y dependencia en los adultos mayores y actualmente afecta a más de 55 millones de personas, el 60% de las cuales vive en países de ingresos bajos y medios (PRMB). El número de personas con demencia con el aumento de la esperanza de vida crecerá a nivel mundial en los próximos años, pero aún más en los PIBM como los países de América Latina (AL).
