Abstract

This study was conducted to describe the impor-tance of marital satisfaction in patients with chro-nic renal failure (CRF) undergoing treatment in a private iPS District of Santa Marta (Colombia). This is a descriptive research-cross type, whose population consisted of 92 patients, of which we selected 35, by a non-probabilistic intentional sampling (Hernandez Fernáandez & Baptista, 2008), who met the inclusion criteria : be between 35 and 75, more stable marital relationship of 5 years, diagnosed iRC treatment, no psychopatho-logy; and who were applied Marital Satisfaction inventory Revised (MSi-R). The results indica-ted that most of the 11 scale low scores evalua-ted, regardless of age, gender, and the treatment time persist; however, note that in the AGG-Aggression scales (57%), CCR-Conflict for parenting (57%) and GDS-Global Anxiety (43%) moderate scores, indicating concerns and important con-flicts were found in these areas with spouse, affec-ting emotional stability and thus the comprehen-sive treatment of participants. Un-psychological health, diagnosis and treatment with permanent comprehensive prevention programs and health promotion within the institution is recommended.
