Abstract

The article - the result of the research called "The architectural heritage of Oscar Niemeyer" - analyzes and proposes a typological classification of a series of works made by the Brazilian master, in which the fluid spaces, typical of Niemeyer's language, do not dominate, if not a system of minimalist prisms, often rectangular in plan, in which the angle of ninety degrees reigns.
They are projects whose simplicity is justified for reasons of constructive economy, budget reduction and, in the case of urban complex projects, to generate tension and contrast with the neighboring curved volumes.
These hypotheses of typological systematization help the understanding of the multifocal work method of the teacher, and can open new traces for further research and specific studies on the extensive work of one of the great masters of Latin American Modernity.
