Color is an essential key characteristic for plastic packaging, to stand out in the marketplace. Due to this, the producers of plastic containers, are concerned with applying techniques that help them make their appearance more attractive to customers. The objective of this study is, to provide the community with an article that serves as a basis for future research on plastic color containers. A quick analysis was realized on the use of the design of experiments for the treatment of color in plastic materials. It analyzed a sample of fifteen studies published in Scopus, the Web of Science, and Science Direct. When examining their results, it is concluded that, in order to obtain good pigmentation of the plastic material, the following three factors should be controlled: temperature, screw speed, and machine feed rate.
