Abstract

The demands of today's world mean that companies must constantly adapt to the environment around them, in this sense the application of Corporate Social Responsibility as a management tool for the effective achievement of this adaptation, is of great contribution. Thus, this research was carried out with the purpose of determining the current status of the application of corporate social responsibility models in SMEs in the city of Popayán (Colombia) between 2012 and 2015, for which It took as an object of study 18 organizations of different types of economic activity. The study was carried out under a herme¬neutical historical epistemological approach and the methodology used was of a qualitative type, from which the application of interviews directed to the managers of these companies for the collection of information is derived. The results showed that the true meaning of corporate social responsibility is not clear in the SMEs under study, and in addition to this the current state of application of corporate social responsibility models is illusory due to the lack of knowledge of the different existing models and one can also observe the lack of commitment on the subject. Because of this, organizations carry out certain activities, which are taken as corporate social responsibility practices and so far no social impact policy has been stipulated within the organization. It is concluded that in the SMEs studied it has not been possible to implement a structured Corporate Social Responsibility model.
