About the Journal

LADEE, identified with ISSN 2744-9750 (Electronic), is a serialized, scientific, electronic, and peer-reviewed journal with continuous publication and packaging in semi-annual issues. It receives and disseminates original, unpublished contributions.

The journal aims to communicate original developments and applications in fields related to environmental research, from the perspective of environmental engineering and sustainable development (i.e., science, technology, environment, innovation, and development), as well as the political, economic, social, and environmental implications. LADEE accepts original research, case studies, and review articles, in English or Spanish, presenting solutions, new ideas, and technologies for environmental applications. Articles submitted to the journal undergo a double-blind peer-review process. The review process and publication time are efficient and swift.

LADEE considers articles on the following topics, provided that there is a clear connection to environmental applications:

Thematic Areas:

  • Renewable Energy
  • Sustainable Development
  • Disaster Risk Management
  • Sustainable Agriculture
  • Integrated Natural Resource Management
  • Environmental Assessment
  • Sustainable Economy and Technology
  • Social and Corporate Responsibility
  • Environmental Education for Sustainable Development
  • Governance, Legislation, and Sustainability Policy
  • Connectivity in Marine Environments

Similarly, the LADEE journal frames its procedures within a strict double-blind peer review process, as exposed by ELSEVIER. Furthermore, it does not accept papers that have been previously published, simultaneously submitted to other journals, present redundant data or information, or any indication of malpractice in research activities. Therefore, it rigorously adheres to the guidelines established by COPE's code of ethics to which we are affiliated: Publication Ethics and Ethical Violations, as well as ELSEVIER's Publishing Ethics Resource Kit for Editors, and the Singapore Statement on Research Integrity. These guidelines are further expanded upon in the ETHICS AND MALPRACTICE TREATMENT POLICY section.

The editors, the Editorial and/or Scientific Committee of LADEE, the University of the Coast, and EDUCOSTA are not responsible for the opinions expressed by the authors. Authors, in turn, must strictly comply with the ethical policies and editorial standards for the publication of their work.

LADEE reserves the rights of printing, total or partial reproduction of the material, as well as the acceptance or rejection of the corresponding article. It also reserves the right to make any editorial modifications it deems necessary to obtain a publication with the highest possible editorial quality and readability.

About Academic Endogamy

To comply with international standards for high-impact journals, LADEE may publish up to 10% of manuscripts and authors from the publishing institution annually, or those related to research projects led by academics from the same institution.

This percentage is calculated based on the total number of authors in the journal for each volume. Once this percentage has been reached, the manuscripts will be added to a pool of articles for possible selection in subsequent issues following a chronological order based on the acceptance date.

Similarly, to prevent endogamy among authors external to the publishing institution and to avoid misconduct in scientific publication, as well as to promote open access to knowledge and the principle of editorial transparency, all authors, regardless of their origin, must wait at least one semester before resubmitting a manuscript for potential publication. This excludes "Letters to the Editor" due to their special nature.
